Science Fiction Books (Not food related!)

Thanks to my friend over at forgottenbeast I found this awesome list of Sci Fi books from NPR.  I absolutely adore NPR so I'm not sure how I missed the original.  Oh well!

I've read the crossed out ones, and I'll star the ones that people have said that they can loan me.  If you have others that you wouldn't mind loaning me, let me know! :-D  I haven't read most of them, so I'm sure my friends can help me out.  :-)

There are a lot of really good books on that list! If you lived close to me, there are a bunch I could lend you. Honestly, though, I've give the Piers Anthony books a skip. They're pretty mysogynistic, IMO.

Thanks for the recommendation! That's REALLY good to know because I can see myself getting quite mad about that kind of writing.

they're pretty lighthearted though, that's the thing. If we were talking Isle of Man, then yeah. But Xanth is all puns and sword and sorcery and stupid people doing stupid things in archetypal fashion.

Those should be somewhere in my apartment, or on my nook, which I wouldn't mind lending you the password to. I used to have more of them, but as I said, I've been paring down.

I like the Piers Anthony books--I agree with Alix, they're lighthearted, simple, goofy and full of fantastic puns (maybe I just like them 'cause I'm a word nerd :D ) And definitely grab The King Killer book 1 if you've found a lender, #2 just came out and I can't wait to read it. I own a few of these--trying to remember which ones I've hung on to 'cause I could definitely lend a few. I know I have Watership Down, The Elric Saga book 1 (but did NOT enjoy that one) and Stardust if nothing else.

Awesome, good info. I think I'm going to start with #2, as apparently it is a travesty that I haven't read it. :-) LUCKILY my boss has it!!
